Father Daughter Dance

The Girl Scouts host a Father Daughter Dance each year. They do it right - decorations, snacks, party favors, photos, etc. Dressy attire and flowers are customary. I decided to treat Emma and I to a girly day - complete with shopping for a new dress (nothing like waiting until the last minute), a very cute "twisty" hair style that is very trendy, and lunch and a pretzel at the mall.

It was a long day and Emma was a trooper - especially because she had to spend three hours at work with me this morning because it was on the way to the mall. As for the dress, we each had our favorites - one at each end of the spectrum. Because I like my favorite so much better, I even offered (read - bribed) to through in a new Webkin if she chose my dress - completely on her own accord. She thought about it - then declined my offer - telling me, "You can always buy that dress for Claire."

She is her own girl with her own style. She had opinions on her hairdo - which I honored.

Looking at the pictures, I think it came out all right. Monte certainly had a big lump in his throat as they left....

I can't believe you bribed Emma! Too funny! She looks BEAUTIFUL!! Love the hairdo and the dress. Very much her stlye and personality. Go get the dress you like for Clair. Monte looks quite dapper too. I'm so used to seeing him in jeans and a sweatshirt. Man he cleans up well too! HA! Hope they are having a great time. I sit here anxiously awaiting how the evening went myself.

Kind of like wedding preview! I think there is something to be said for a Daddy taking his little girl on the town! Go Monte!

As for the Webkinz bribe...I've been down that road. True fashion diva cannot be bribed with furry objects. Sorry to break it to you.

My daughter Chloe's school is hosting a father-daughter dance this weekend. She's VERY excited - and I must admit, so am I. There's nothing like the bond between a daddy and his little girl, especially for a single daddy. Most of my friends didn't realize anyone still did father-daughter dances, so I came online to see if they were occurring elsewhere - glad to see they're still around other places, too! They're so very important, both to the girls and to us dads, who have to watch our little princesses grow up much too fast. Your daughter looks absolutely adorable, and (bragging father syndrome kicks into overdrive here), I must say after seeing my daughter try on her brand new - VERY expensive - dress, she'll be the belle of the ball. I'd be willing to bet Emma felt the same way with her Daddy, too :-).
