A Day at the Beach...

We took a day mid-week to take our first excursion to "the beach." The kids had been begging to go since we arrived here. Wrightsville is only two hours from here ... thought we'd take a day trip. It was 100 degrees so there were people there ... but we found parking and were able to spend about five hours getting our crevices filled with sand.

"The Bigs" immediately began to body surf and boogie board... while "the Littles" started out on the sand and moved more slowly into the waves. By the end of the day, we had to literally "go in after them" to put them in the car.

There is an aquarium 15 minutes south of the beach ... and next day we vote to spend the night so we can get more things in ... aquarium, ice cream ... and some shopping for the discriminating seashell seekers. Not that we had ANYONE who fought over who-got-which-shell. Not us.

we went to the aquarium yesterday! you also must go to dinner one night in downtown wilmington on the waterfront, the river/bridge/boats provide entertainment for the kids so you can have a nice meal.

When we went to the Indiana Dunes last summer... I saw the smartest thing. A family put their beach stuff on a plastic SNOW SLED and pulled it to their spot. Wagons don't do so hot in sand, but the flat bottom sled just slided across the sand.
